A B O U T

"Tiny Dancer" was written in 1971 by Elton John and Bernie Taupin. It's from Elton's fifth album, "Madman Across The Water" and, at over six minutes, was one of the longer songs played on popular radio in its day.

Taupin's lyrics tell the story of his love for future wife Maxine Feibelman, a dancer with Elton's touring group. Sadly, Bernie and Maxine eventually divorced (spawning another John/Taupin colaboration, "Blue Move"'s "Between Seventeen and Twenty")

The song ironically tapped out at #41 in the US (and wasn't a charting hit in the UK), but later gained popularity through frequent classics-format radio play and an appearence in the 2000 Cameron Crowe film "Almost Fameous". The song's gone on to be covered by numerous artists, including Tori Amos and Tim McGraw.
