A B O U T

A music box is an automated musical instrument. They generally produce tunes the use of a set of pins placed on a revolving cylinder or disc so as to strike the tuned teeth of a steel comb. Some music boxes use electronic or digital sound imprinting.

Music boxes originated in manufacture back in the 18th century. They were originally tiny containers which could fit into a gentleman's waistcoat. Today, music boxes are collectible trinkets - sometimes, they're contained within jewelry boxes.
