Summary: Texas teenager Billie Jean Davy believes in fairness - a belief that's challenged when her brother, Binx's scooter is trashed by a group of local bulies. Determined to get the six hundred dollar repair bill paid by one of the bully's fathers, Billie Jean and her brother go to Mister Pyatt's store to collect the fee. Unfortunately, Mister Pyatt decides to atempt sexual assault on Billie Jean. While Billie's fending off her attacker, Binx is stealing from the store's cash register, and when Billie Jean flees Mr. Pyatt, Binx accidentally shoots the cretain. The siblings are branded outlaws and flee their small town along with their friends, Putter and Ophellia. Through a series of daunting scrapes, Billie Jean becomes a teen idol in her little hometown. The Billie Jean merchandising machine begins to roll - fueled by Pyatt, who produces "wanted" posters with images of Billie Jean in a skimpy tank-top taken candidly by his son while whining that he wants the teens hauled off to jail for assaulting him. Billie Jean takes on Joan of Arc as a role model, cuts her hair, and draws the attention of the mayor's son, Lloyd. Will she get her six hundred dollars and manage to keep herself and her band of outlaws out of jail? Fun Facts: The movie had two tag lines: "When You're Seventeen, People think they can do anything to you. Billie Jean is about to prove them wrong" and "The last thing she ever expected was to be a hero"...The film originally rated an "R" From the MPAA for language. Knowing it would be suicidal to the movie's box office - it was directly marketed to teenagers - the producers appealed for and got a "PG-13"...The movie's working title was "Fair Is Fair"...The movie's theme, "Invincible (The Legend of Billie Jean)" was a #1 hit for Pat Benetar.
