A B O U T

"Be Our Guest" is one of the pivitol numbers from Disney's "Beauty and The Beast". Within the context of the song, Lumiere encourages Belle to enjoy herself at the Beast's castle, extolling the excellent meal and night's rest the house staff can provide - trying to cheer her after her initally difficult sequesterment. Throughout the song, Cogsworth tries to stop Lumiere's extravagent show, only to be caught up in the music and begin dancing before it ends.

The song is performed mainly by the late Jerry Orbach (Lumiere), with one verse and a few lines performed by Angela Lansbury (Mrs. Potts). It was written by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman, and is the third song from the soundtrack to be nominated for an Oscar (the winning track was the movie's title number).
