A B O U T

Anne Heche is perhaps (and sadly) best-known for her real-life woes than her complex and interesting acting career. Even in high school, Anne was known as an acclaimed actress - she was approaced by casting directors from the soap opera As The World Turns and offered a role at sixteen, but turned down the part at the request of her mother. She got her first big break at the age of eighteen playing twins Vicky and Marley Hudson on the soap opera Another World in 1987. After winning a Daytime Emmy for the role in 1991 and appearing in the acclaimed TV movie "O Pioneers!", she left the soap for a try at the big screen, her first role being that of a hooker in the Melanie Griffith bomb "Milk Money". Anne rebounded with a role in the HBO telepicture "If These Walls Could Talk", and acclaimed supporting parts in "Donnie Brasco" and her first lead role in "Walking And Talking". She co-starred with Tommy Lee Jones in the disaster film "Volcano", had a roll in the highly-acclaimed ensamble political satire "Wag The Dog", and co-starred with Harrison Ford in "Six Days and Seven Nights". She appeared as Marion Crane in Gus Van Zandts' shot-for-shot remake of Hitchcock's "Psycho". More recently, Anne starred in the two-season long ABC dramady "Men In Trees".

Of course, Anne has had a complex personal life - after dating Steve Martin and Fleetwood Mac songwriter/musician Lindsay Buckingham, she embarked on a long-term and highly publicised relationship with Ellen DeGeneres in 1997. They broke up in 2000, after a public scandal in which Anne wandered through a California desert, clearly dissorientated and, according to her "on a mission from God". She would later publish an autobiography entitled "Call Me Crazy" that details why she broke down - a mental illness caused by sexual and physical abuse in her childhood. Anne went on to marry Coleman Laffoon, a cameraman, in September of 2001. She had a son with him named Homer in 2002. Anne and Coleman were divorced in 2007, and Anne is dating her Men In Trees costar James Tupper. -with assistance from wikipedia.com
