A B O U T

Movie: Released in 1980, "Airplane!" is a film which spoofs the motion picture disaster series "Airport". It was the first parody film to draw a high return at the box office. Airplane was produced and directed by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker, and starring Robert Hays, Julie Hagerty, Leslie Nielsen, Robert Stack, Lloyd Bridges, Peter Graves, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Lorna Patterson.

Plot:

Former Air Force pilot Ted Striker must overcome his fear of manning a plane - and his very literal drinking problem - to rescue a floundering DC 109 when the pilots and many of their passengers become ill due to the in-flight meal. At his side his his ex-girlfriend, Elaine, who as fate would have it became a stewardess after their break-up. Down on the ground stressed air traffic controller McCroskey and the spritely Johnny try to help Striker bring the jet down. When their efforts fail, they call in a face from Ted's past who just might kick his pilot instincts into gear...
